ISIS Destroys Jonah's Tomb In Mosul, Iraq, As Militant Violence Continues

The militant group ISIS is continuing its rampage of holy places by destroying the tomb of Jonah, a place thought to be the burial site of the prophet believed by Abrahamic faiths to have been swallowed by a whale or fish.
Civil defense officials in Mosul, Iraq, told CNN that ISIS operatives planted explosives around the mosque containing the tomb then detonated it remotely on Thursday.
A video posted to YouTube, the authenticity of which has not yet been confirmed, shows the destruction of the Sunni Mosque of the Prophet Younis, which is the Arabic name for Jonah. Though ISIS claims to adhere to the Sunni branch of Islam, they have nonetheless targeted multiple Sunni shrines, blowing up or bulldozing any place they deem "unIslamic."

According to The Guardian, people living nearby the mosque told AP that ISIS members had declared that the holy site "had become a place for apostasy, not prayer." The Imam Aoun Bin al-Hassan mosque was also destroyed on Thursday.
The tomb of Daniel, a man revered by Muslims as a prophet though unlike Jonah, he is not mentioned in the Quran, has also been reportedly destroyed. Al-Arabiya reports that Zuhair al-Chalabi, a local Mosul official, told Al-Samaria News that “ISIS implanted explosives around Prophet Daniel’s tomb in Mosul and blasted it, leading to its destruction."

While I consider myself to be a relatively forward-thinking and open-minded guy, I do not blindly accept everything the media and corporate America shovels in my direction. For instance, I am very hesitant to support Google Glass and self-driving cars. I am hardly a conspiracy theorist -- just a realist in light of Snowden leaks.

Tornado slams Virginia campground, at least 2 dead

CAPE CHARLES, Va. (AP) -- The sky turned black and cellphones pinged with emergency messages. Moments later, a tornado ripped through a sprawling, carnival-like campground Thursday, snapping dozens of trees and flipping over RVs.
A tree fell on a New Jersey couple's tent, killing them, and their 13-year-old son in a tent next to them suffered life-threatening injuries. About three dozen other people were hurt, with injuries ranging from cuts to broken bones to more serious, Virginia State Police spokeswoman Corinne Geller said.

The first match of our European training camp pitted us against a side whose league campaign is already underway, something Jose Mourinho considers ideal as our pre-season preparations continue.
WAC RZ Pellets played their first competitive match of the 2014/15 season this weekend, and as our boss explained after the 1-1 draw against top-flight Austrian opposition, more time for his side spent on the pitch in match action proved invaluable.

Four-Year-Old Banned From Donut Shop For Asking Inappropriate Question Kid asked a customer if she was pregnant

Be warned, four-year-olds of the world: you do not mess around in this donut shop. According to WFSB, young Justin Otero was reportedly 86'd from a Monroe, CT Doughnut Inn after asking one customer if she was pregnant--a question management seemingly interpreted as, "Are you pregnant, or do you just really like donuts?" The woman was not pregnant.

"My response was 'Oh my goodness, I'm so embarrassed, I'm so sorry'," said the boy's mother, Rebecca Denham.

The woman accepted the apology, telling Denham it was "no problem," but the donut store's management was not so quick to forgive--as evidenced Tuesday morning, when Denham was allegedly told that she was allowed in the store, but her four-year-old son wasn't.

GAZA CITY, Gaza Strip (AP) -- Israeli tanks and warplanes bombarded the Gaza Strip on Thursday, as Hamas militants stuck to their demand for the lifting of an Israeli and Egyptian blockade amid U.S. efforts to reach a cease-fire.
The 16-day conflict has claimed the lives of 718 Palestinians, most of them civilians, Palestinian health officials say. Israel has lost 32 soldiers, all since July 17, when it widened its air campaign into a full-scale ground operation aimed at halting rocket fire from Gaza and destroying a sophisticated network of cross-border tunnels.
Two Israeli civilians and a Thai worker in Israel have also been killed.
